VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Kitsap Legal Aid Services (KLAS) is a legal aid organization, providing free-legal services to low-income residents of Kitsap County. KLAS was formed in 1989 and became a 501(c)3 organization in 2002. KLAS offices are located in downtown Bremerton. Currently, KLAS has 7 full-time employees and an approximately $600,000 annual budget. In 2023, KLAS provided free legal services to 619 individuals, and provided outreach and legal information to many more.
KLAS provides Eviction Defense services to low-income tenants using two staff attorneys and contract attorneys. Volunteer attorneys in the community provide free legal services through the Volunteer Lawyer Program and provide brief services in legal areas related to families, employment, debt, estate planning, guardianships, etc.

Together, We Can Make Justice Accessible
Kitsap County is calling on attorneys to make a difference through pro bono civil legal aid. Too many residents face critical legal issues—like family law disputes, or access to public benefits—without the help they need. As a volunteer attorney, you can be the key to justice for low-income individuals and families who would otherwise go unrepresented.
Your skills can change lives. Whether you provide limited-scope assistance or offer brief legal advice, your time and expertise help bridge the justice gap in our community.
